The Roads We Choose

Roll down the window and let the wind blow back your hair
Well, the night’s busting open, these two lanes will take us anywhere
Thunder Road by Bruce Springsteen

Listening to: Highwayman

Are you on the road you want to be on in life? You are the driver. You are the navigator. Take the wheel. Navigate to a life you love!

“So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned by a life of security, conformity, and conservatism, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man’s living spirit is his passion for adventure.” -Chris McCandless

“Just get out and do it. Just get out and do it.”
– Chris McCandless

We gotta get out while were young `cause tramps like us,
Baby we were born to run
Born to Run by Bruce Springsteen

Goin’ places that I’ve never been
Seein’ things that I may never see again
And I can’t wait to get on the road again
-Willie Nelson

a Sea of Sorrow

“Her absence is like the sky, spread over everything.”
– C.S. Lewis, A Grief Observed

Listening to: Chopin’s Prelude in E-Minor (on repeat)

Since my sweet girl Tiff passed over, I’ve found it incredibly difficult to face writing on this blog. Hence why there hasn’t been a new post on here since the first week of July. Sometimes life is just painful. I miss Tiff more than my heart can bare. If that’s not enough pain, tomorrow is the anniversary of my mother’s passing. There is immense beauty in life, but also great sorrow. Currently, I am surrounded by a sea of sorrow, while my tears, like rain, continue to fall.

“Those who do not weep, do not see.”
– Victor Hugo, Les Misérables

I have many beautiful photos of Tiff I could’ve shared on this post, but I chose this one instead. It was taken last year when we either had just woken up or were going to sleep. Through the no-makeup and bad lighting, you can really feel the essence of our relationship. Our bond was unlike any other.

“When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth you are weeping for that which has been your delight.”
– Kahlil Gibran

I’m hoping to get back into writing on here more frequently, but please be patient with me as I am missing my mother, my dog, and my grandpa.

“Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world’s more full of weeping than you can understand.”
– W.B. Yeats, The Collected Poems of W.B. Yeats
