How a Ten Minute Phone Call Saved us $400

Buy quality items, from quality companies, for things important to you.

An excellent blender is a vital tool at my house. It’s something we use every single day, often even two or three times. So spending more on a great blender makes sense for us. Please note that if, say a blender, is something you rarely use, then it doesn’t make financial sense for you to splurge on one.

So we’ve had our current blender for quite awhile and we love it, but it’s on its last leg. The motor has been making some pretty funky noises lately. Every time we’ve used it this week has felt like playing Russian roulette. Rather than bite the bullet and purchase a new one . . . for a whopping $400, I suggested my husband call the customer service just to see if it was still under warranty (Donovan didn’t think so, because as I’ve said, we’ve had it for quite awhile) or to see if it could be repaired. (It can be good to exhaust all options before making a big purchase.)

Lo and behold, our blender was still under warranty! and they are sending us a new blender. Just like that *snaps fingers* a ten minute phone call saved us from making a $400 purchase.

As I stated in the beginning, purchasing quality items that will perform better and last longer can save you money in the long run (if it’s something important to you.) And buying from quality companies with good customer service who stand behind their products, can save you money.

Relics of the Old West Episode 9

This CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) camp was opened in October 1933. 200 young men lived and worked here during the Great Depression. Stone was taken from a nearby ghost town to build the administrative buildings. The camp closed in 1942 and within a few years most of the buildings were either removed or destroyed. Today, only 4 of the buildings remain. It’s the only CCC camp in Utah with any buildings left.
